Union Family Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed mental health counselor to join our team on a full-time basis. This remote position is pivotal in providing compassionate, high-quality mental health care to our diverse clientele through telehealth services. Work Environment
This position operates remotely, allowing flexibility while maintaining a strong connection with our clients through telehealth platforms. As a part of a dedicated counseling team, you will have access to all necessary resources and support to perform your duties effectively. The use of electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, ensures a seamless communication and documentation process, fostering an efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough initial assessments through virtual consultations, documenting the mental health status and concerns of clients effectively.
- Develop individual, couple, family, and group treatment plans based on evidence-based practices, aligning interventions with client needs.
- Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, creating a safe and welcoming online environment where clients feel comfortable to express themselves.
- Continuously monitor client progress and adapt treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective interventions are in place.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, to create a comprehensive care plan for clients.
- Provide follow-up communication with clients, especially those with severe or ongoing issues, to prevent regression or crises.
- Educate clients and their support systems about managing mental health conditions and implementing coping strategies.
- Manage referrals to other specialists or support services when additional care is required.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The mental health counselor will work with a varied client population, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. Our focus is on creating a supportive atmosphere for individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing cultural competence and sensitivity in all interactions.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Professional such as LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
- A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clients in an effective and empathetic manner.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine appreciation for mental health advocacy.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as a mental health counselor, especially with a focus on telehealth methodologies.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, for managing client information and treatment documentation.
- Understanding of medical, psychological, and substance use disorders, along with a familiarity of best practices in the field per the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
- In-depth knowledge regarding the implications of pharmacological interventions provided by various specialists.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 80,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
