Description
Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a setting that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, relevant Nurse Practice Acts, and regulatory agency standards. The RN delivers expert patient care and shared leadership within the unit.Essential Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term goals.
- Apply new knowledge from ongoing education to promote cost-saving and enhance patient care.
- Make appropriate patient care assignments based on nurse expertise, patient acuity, and technical needs.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues, embodying core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and courage.
- Communicate clearly to manage patient and provider expectations, ensuring a positive experience through patient rounding, timely responses, and professional conduct.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise, using electronic devices appropriately, and supporting healthcare students and their programs.
- Prioritize safety for patients, guests, staff, and self by adhering to event management systems, reporting near misses, and following Just Culture, HIPAA, and national safety standards.
- Engage in career development through leadership opportunities, certifications, advanced degrees, and participation in shared governance and councils.
- Foster teamwork by motivating and guiding colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and mentoring others.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy at all times, following standard precautions and organizational policies.
- Participate in nursing research, evidence-based practice, staff meetings, and peer reviews as required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school or, if unaccredited, a minimum of five years acute care nursing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire.
- Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications to be obtained and maintained.
- Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state board.
Work Shift: Day and evening shifts available.
This position is located in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
