Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week inpatient Rehab assignment at a Level II Trauma acute care facility in Wisconsin, working 12-hour night shifts with rehab or med-surg background required.

Details

• Inpatient Rehab unit within an acute care, Level II Trauma hospital setting
• 10-bed unit with private rooms; nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Adult patient population only; common diagnoses include stroke (40%), trauma, ortho, neuro, and various disabilities with an average length of stay of 10–14 days
• No telemetry monitoring responsibilities on this unit
• RNs are responsible for nebulizer and inhaler treatments; RT manages CPAP/BiPAP on nights, and RNs may remove equipment
• Common IV therapies include IV fluids, antibiotics, and heparin drips transitioning to Coumadin
• RNs are expected to attend daily team conferences held around 11 AM–12 PM
• Travelers may serve as charge nurse with a 1:5 patient assignment
• CNAs are available on day and evening shifts; no CNA coverage from 11 PM–7 AM
• PT, OT, SLP, and a rehab physician are part of the care team
• Charting system is Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 12-hour night shifts (7 PM–7 AM)
• Every other to every third weekend required
• Holiday coverage required: 2 out of 3 winter holidays, every other holiday otherwise
• Floating may be required to similar med-surg telemetry units
• No on-call or standby requirements

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license (must be active by start date)
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Rehab RN experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers accepted only if they have prior rehab experience
• Med-surg nurses without rehab experience considered only if they have prior travel nursing experience
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the same specialty within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; attire must be clean and professional
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay package
• Duo travel partners are welcome, though identical shift assignments cannot be guaranteed
